Rajahmundry is the one of the famous city along the east coast of Andhra Pradesh. It is identified as Cultural capital of Andhra Pradesh. The first Telugu poet Nannayya was born in this city and he scripted here Andhra Mahabharatam. This city is located on the banks of Godavari River, It's primary Revenue source is in cloth business. Most of the population around Rajahmundry depends on cultivation . This area people celebrates Kumbh Mela to Godavari once in every 12 years, this year Kumbh Mela of 12 day's is declared from July 12-on wards. There are lot many Hindu temples along the Godavari bund, few among them are the "Koti Lingeswara temple" in Kotilingala Ghat, Markandeya swami Temple along the River bund and ISKON Temple near River bay area.

Kotilingala temple

Ancestors described this place as, where there were 1.00,00,000 (10 Million) Shiva Lingas. As per the Vedha's, long time ago Goutham maharshi use to live close to River Godavari, He use to perform all of his activities in the river. One day he got curse from God due to killing of a Cow and for get rid of it God advised him to do Shiva Linga Puja with 1,00,00,000(10 Million) Shiv linghas, He prepared the Lingas and spread them along the River bed and performed his act to get rid of this curse. As per Ancestors, He prepared all of them in this area with some kind of stones (Known to be Granite). Centuries ago during the Flood season some of them were washed way in the flood water Due to heavy sub merge of this area during heavy floods to River Godavari. Now People believe that some of them are still in River bed but not exposing to surface due to Silt and Sand in the river bed.

Kotilingala Temple is not having any Lingas installed from that era, But they build this temple in remembrance of that history.

Local people from this Temple area still says that they saw 2 to 3 Linghas in the River and they use to appear to Surface near Dhobi Ghat.

Saraswathi Ghat

This is the Ghat for VIP's, it is under construction near River Bay resort area, it has easy access to ISKCON temple and located close to Gowthami Ghat. Priminister Narendra Modi will visit this Ghat for inaugural of this Kumbha Mela Festivals, All other Government members will be allowed at this Ghat , so it is also named as VIP ghat.

About Tourism

It is very beautiful and peaceful area with very low industrial pollution. It has most famous bridges on the River, and they give beauty to this city. This area is green lush area about 9 months in a calender year, This district is having more Coconut trees and they spread along the roads on both sides, It is worthy to visit Narsaries around this city, these are the main attraction along National Highway. These Nurseries located around KADIUM village area.

Ferry/Boat/Launch raids in the River

Godavari Bund is the evening recreation spot for the tourists and also Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage at Dowaleswaram is also land mark for Konaseema Delta starting Location. This Barrage is approximately 10 km distance from Kotipalli Bus stand.

Generally in every pushkarams or Kumba Mela's Government runs several free Bus services between several selected destinations and also establishes temporary bus stations.

Railways are also planning to buildup some Temporary railways platform at Rajahmundry railways station and also accepted to give halt at Godavari Railway stations for most of the trains and also improving the amenities in West Godavari Railway stations.

Airport authority of India is prepared local airport runway for Night landing. It made all the arrangements so we can expect Night flights to Hyderabad, if possible by then we can expect some more flight for Bangalore and Chennai.
